Plans for the inaugural phase of the Cardiff Peninsula project have been submitted, focusing on the construction of senior living apartments.
This first development will transform the Cardiff International Swimming Pool car park into a residential space consisting of 77 apartments, enhancing community living.
The Cardiff Peninsula scheme is poised to reshape the Cardiff Bay area with over 1,000 homes. This comprehensive plan includes a variety of housing options and aims to reinvigorate the space adjacent to the Cardiff International Sports Village, which has remained largely undeveloped for years.
These apartments promise communal facilities including communal gardens conducive to gardening and recreational activities. A combination of 40 parking and cycle spaces is planned to complement the green focus.
The revamped vision by Cardiff Peninsula Consortium promises a more realistic and feasible approach to the rejuvenation of Cardiff Bay, with construction anticipated to begin in Q2 2025.
Future phases of development intend to incorporate ‘meanwhile uses’ to activate the peninsula during lengthy planning stages, enhancing local amenities with leisure and sports opportunities.
By delivering modern housing solutions and fostering economic momentum, the project aims to position Cardiff Bay as a central residential and commercial hub.
By incorporating leisure and community spaces early on, the project seeks to maintain momentum and interest, keeping the community engaged in the long-term vision.
This development marks a significant step in realising Cardiff Bay’s potential, aiming to create a sustainable and thriving environment for future generations.
The Cardiff Peninsula project represents a major milestone in the region’s urban development, balancing housing needs with community aspirations.
As planning progresses, the project’s success will hinge on its ability to deliver on its promises effectively, setting a precedent for future developments.
