Liverpool Council has sanctioned the construction of a new hotel near Bramley-Moore Dock. Located close to Everton’s new stadium, the establishment will feature 80 rooms and blend existing architectural heritage with modern design.
The project, backed by Fast Growth Homes (FGH), aims to revitalise a historic site and support the region’s tourism. By integrating the Grade II listed mill, the development intends to maintain the character of the area while offering contemporary amenities.
Liverpool Council has granted permission for the construction of a five-storey hotel adjacent to Everton’s Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. The 80-bed facility will be erected on Regent Road, Blackstone Street and Fulton Street. This site formerly housed industrial structures and a Grade II listed mill, which will be transformed into part of the hotel, showcasing its historic significance.
The site hosts a former mill dating back to circa 1850, which was employed for storing cotton, corn and animal feed until the 1970s. This same location is notable for the previous American Hotel, demolished after a fire in the 1980s.
Dylan Jones, representing Fast Growth Homes, highlighted the historical importance of maintaining such a site, explaining the effort to preserve its interior features, such as cast-iron door frames and exposed brickwork.
Plans for the hotel indicate a structure spanning four floors, with additional basement space. Two bars, the Regent Bar and Fulton Bar, will be located alongside a central lounge, reception, and entrance area on the ground floor.
The mill section will be converted to house 32 bedrooms, while 48 rooms will be added within the new build component. This strategic layout capitalises on the historic elements available within the site.
Developers have focused on enhancing the building’s charm, ensuring that the design caters to both historical preservation and modern functionality.
