Jacksons Law Firm celebrated a significant triumph at the Northern Law Awards. The firm, which operates from Teesside and Newcastle, was awarded ‘Law Firm of the Year’ in addition to winning the ‘Law Practice Management’ award. Managing Partner Tony Wentworth acknowledged the entire team’s contributions, remarking that, although the awards were collected by a few, they represented the efforts of all 99 members. “There may be only 10 of us on the stage to collect this award, but there are 89 other people contributing in equal measure to this award,” Wentworth stated, capturing the firm’s inclusive work ethos.

Thirty apprentices, including 14 from the firm’s head office, were celebrated for their achievements in customer service. Each participant received a certificate to honour their hard work and dedication. The event featured an extensive tour of the ship, showcasing its various amenities, followed by a lunch. “What a perfect way to celebrate our newly qualified head office apprentices!” commented Jonathon Woodall-Johnston, Hays Travel COO, highlighting the firm’s commitment to developing talent.
Northern Pride Partnership Rally
At Blackfriars in Newcastle, businesses gathered to demonstrate their support for Northern Pride. The breakfast meeting bolstered preparations for the Pride in the City festival, which will feature events from July 19 to 21. Nexus launched a limited edition ‘Pride Pop Pays As You Go Card’ and organised a complimentary shuttle service to ease travel during the festival.
The collaborative spirit was highlighted by Ste Dunn, director of Northern Pride, who praised the partners’ involvement: “We couldn’t do any of this without the wonderful partners we have here in the North East,” he stated, affirming the role of such partnerships in making the festival successful.
Military vs Cancer Charity Event
The Military vs Cancer event at Kingston Park was a charitable affair marked by strong community support and impressive outcomes. More than 2,500 attendees gathered to witness two rugby matches, collectively raising over £48,000 for the charity. This included the North’s women’s team playing its first fixture.
UK Armed Forces emerged victorious, with their men’s team winning 90-15, while the women’s team secured a 38-15 triumph.
