The leading law firm in Newcastle has achieved new milestones, recording its highest turnover and profit for the third consecutive year.
Significant growth in various departmental services and strategic initiatives has propelled the firm to maintain its leading position in the region.
Publishing its financial accounts for 2023, the law firm reported a 4.5% increase in turnover, rising from £16.3 million to £17.03 million.
Similarly, operating profit experienced a 6% growth, increasing from £3.8 million to £4.05 million.
The firm expanded its team significantly, increasing staff numbers from 147 to 160.
This included the addition of eight new fee earners and five support staff, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to growth.
A notable 11% growth was seen in the agricultural, rural estates, and private client services.
The corporate team also achieved an 11% increase in turnover.
Dispute resolution and employment services reported substantial growths of 24% and 21% respectively.
The firm secured several prestigious regional and national public sector appointments.
These include reappointment to the NEPO panel and new roles within the North West Legal Consortium and Pagabo national framework for academy services.
The firm’s Community Fund, managed by the Tyne and Wear Community Foundation, contributed £33,060 to community initiatives.
Beneficiaries of these grants included Clean Slate Solutions in Teesside and Carlisle Key in Cumbria.
Employees actively participated in volunteering activities, from packing food parcels at Newcastle Food Bank to providing pro bono legal services.
Plans are already underway for a successful year in 2025, with current turnover figures showing a 16% increase over the previous year.
Mr Wainwright will step down next March, with Anthony Evans, the current head of corporate, appointed as his successor.
