Asda has launched a ‘Back to School’ bonus on its Rewards app aimed at providing shoppers with savings on essential school items. This initiative is particularly beneficial as families prepare for the upcoming school year amidst ongoing financial strains.
For existing app users, the scheme offers a 10% cashback on all school uniform purchases until 10 September. Additionally, customers can earn a £2 cashpot when they spend £10 on selected school essentials such as stationary, lunch boxes, and drink bottles. This offer extends to the 3rd of September.
To incentivise new users, Asda Rewards app subscribers downloading and using the app for the first time are eligible for an extra £5 in their cashpot. This opportunity is valid until midnight on 30 September, thus providing ample time for new users to benefit.
Apart from app offers, Asda extends a 10% discount on all schoolwear purchased through its online store, George, until 11 September. Scott MacRae, George’s senior buying manager for schoolwear, recognised the stress associated with back-to-school preparations. ‘We appreciate that this can be stressful, especially for large families, so we want to help budgets stretch further with our back-to-school offers,’ he stated.
Recent data highlights that 25% of Asda’s customers plan to reduce their school uniform purchases this year, reflecting financial pressures. In response to this, Asda has also invested £23 million to reduce prices on 425 branded and own-label products. These price cuts, averaging 11%, cover a range of essentials, including nappies, milk, bread, and meats.
Asda’s strategic initiatives aim to provide significant financial relief to families preparing for the new school term.
