The British Footwear Development Trust (BFDT) has announced the continuation of its training grant programme, aimed at fostering growth, creativity, and innovation within the UK’s footwear sector. This initiative is designed to support both individuals and businesses by offering various educational and practical training opportunities.
Originally launched in 2023, the BFDT training grants have significantly contributed to the professional development of companies within the industry. Fairfax and Favor, a recipient of the 2023 grant, leveraged the opportunity to enhance the skills of their product development team. Sara Driscoll, the product development manager at Fairfax & Favor, emphasised the grant’s impact, stating that it allowed both junior and seasoned professionals to undertake BFA courses, thereby refreshing their current skills, connecting with industry peers, embracing innovations, and strengthening their industry knowledge.
Helen Errington, a trustee at the BFDT, expressed enthusiasm over the potential benefits these grants could bring to the sector and the talented individuals within it. Applications for the 2024 grant cycle opened on 2 September and will continue to be accepted until the deadline at midnight on 30 September 2024.
The BFDT’s training grant programme is poised to further bolster the UK’s footwear industry by enhancing skills and fostering innovation.
