With Nothing Underneath has successfully secured £2.5 million in its first funding round, signalling a pivotal moment in the brand’s growth trajectory. Led by Pembroke VCT, with contributions from JamJar Investments, Me+Em, Ro&Zo, and Tala, this investment underscores confidence in the brand’s potential.
Founded in 2017 by former Tatler editor Pip Durell, With Nothing Underneath set out to provide a unique offering of menswear-inspired shirts tailored for women. The brand took a significant step in 2022 by opening its first store in central London and has since expanded its product offerings to include trousers.
The newly acquired funds are earmarked for strategic international growth, with targeted markets in the United States, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This expansion seeks to leverage the increasing international demand for British heritage fashion, a sector in which With Nothing Underneath holds a distinctive position.
Besides its overseas ambitions, the company plans to invest in strengthening its senior leadership team and further developing new product lines, which will enhance its bricks-and-mortar presence within the United Kingdom. Andrew Wolfson, CEO of Pembroke, stated that this investment will assist the brand in broadening its product range and supporting its international reach.
Pip Durell expressed excitement at closing the company’s first funding round, highlighting the expertise and shared vision of its new partners as pivotal to the brand’s continued growth. “We are thrilled to close our first fundraise,” said Durell, noting the alignment in values between With Nothing Underneath and their investors.
The £2.5 million investment marks a significant step towards expanding With Nothing Underneath’s product range and international presence.
