Gerry Sweeney, who has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Quiz since 2016, has announced his departure from the company. Sweeney’s tenure will officially conclude on 31 March next year, allowing ample time for a smooth changeover to his successor. The company has initiated a recruitment process to identify a suitable replacement.
During his time at Quiz, Sweeney has been instrumental in managing the company’s financial strategy. His impending departure coincides with a challenging period for the fashion group, which is striving to improve its financial performance following a reported pre-tax loss of nearly £7 million for the year ending 31 March.
Despite the difficulties faced by the company, Sweeney expressed his belief in the potential for a turnaround under the current leadership of CEO Sheraz Ramzan. He mentioned, ‘After more than eight years in the role, I felt that now is the right time to step back and consider new opportunities. I firmly believe in Quiz’s turnaround potential under Sheraz Ramzan’s leadership.’
Sweeney also conveyed his satisfaction in working alongside the board and the broader Quiz team, underscoring his commitment to facilitating a smooth transition of responsibilities over the coming months. CEO Sheraz Ramzan acknowledged Sweeney’s significant contributions and expressed his appreciation, saying, ‘On behalf of everyone at Quiz I would like to thank Gerry for his commitment and valued input over the past eight years.’
The company, while currently experiencing financial obstacles, is ardently working on reversing its fortunes, with high expectations of returning to profitable growth in the near future. The search for a new CFO is underway as the company continues to focus on stabilising its financial standings and supporting its turnaround strategy.
Gerry Sweeney’s departure marks a significant transition for Quiz as it seeks to rejuvenate its financial outlook amidst ongoing challenges.
