Dave Forsey, known for his long-standing association with Mike Ashley, is returning to Frasers Group to drive its global expansion efforts. Formerly a key figure at Sports Direct where he started his career and rose to the position of CEO, Forsey is stepping into the role of general manager for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions. This strategic position will see him take a base in Malaysia, with regular business trips to London.
Forsey’s career began at Sports Direct as a young employee and spanned over three decades, culminating in his appointment as CEO. He departed the company in 2016 amidst controversy involving employment practices. Post-departure, Forsey ventured into consultancy and later joined Revolution Beauty, holding the managing director role until early 2023.
The return of Dave Forsey coincides with a significant financial adjustment for Frasers Group. Recent reports indicate a revised profit outlook, adjusted to a range of £550 million to £600 million, representing a decrease in group sales by 8% for the period ending 27 October. This downturn has been attributed to foreign exchange issues and a notable dip in the share price of Hugo Boss.
Frasers Group has confirmed Forsey’s appointment but refrained from making further statements. The situation presents an opportunity for Forsey to apply his extensive experience in retail management and international operations. Meanwhile, the group is dealing with a 33% reduction in pre-tax profit, which dropped to £207.2 million from a previous £310.2 million.
The return of Dave Forsey to Frasers Group marks a significant development as the company navigates its international growth and financial restructuring.
