Deliveroo is enhancing its service offerings by introducing a new feature that allows customers to conveniently combine grocery items with their takeaway orders. This development follows a successful trial in London and aims for a nationwide rollout by year-end, integrating with Deliveroo’s rapid grocery ‘HOP’ sites.
The service also extends to Deliveroo’s renowned retail partners, including Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Morrisons, enabling customers to complement their meals with additional grocery items such as milk and croissants, effectively crafting their ideal meal within a singular order.
Reflecting on consumer behaviour, Deliveroo identified a pattern where customers frequently placed a secondary order shortly after completing their initial restaurant order. In response, the new feature allows customers, within ten minutes of placing a restaurant order, to add more items from nearby Deliveroo grocery partners through the order tracker page.
Chief Business Officer Carlo Mocci stated, ‘We are passionate about creating the ultimate food experience for our customers and now, through our cutting-edge tech, they can create their perfect takeaway order.’ He emphasised the seamless experience offered by this feature, whether it’s for breakfast preparation or improving a movie night with snacks and popcorn.
Deliveroo’s announcement comes at a time of financial recovery for the delivery app, which is considering a shareholder payout of up to £250 million. The company has reported a reduction in losses, now at £83 million compared to £153 million the previous year, illustrating growing financial stability.
Deliveroo’s new feature exemplifies its commitment to customer satisfaction and operational innovation.
