Benedetta Petruzzo, currently the CEO of Miu Miu, is set to take on the role of Managing Director at Christian Dior Couture, starting 15 October 2024. This leadership change comes as Charles Delapalme steps down from his current position to assume another role within the LVMH Group, which owns Dior.
Petruzzo has been a pivotal figure at Miu Miu since she took over as CEO in 2020. Her career started at Bain & Company as an analyst, and she has since held key positions, including North America Executive Vice President at Kering’s eyewear division. Under her leadership, Miu Miu experienced a staggering 93% increase in sales year-on-year for the first six months of 2024, positively affecting the parent company, Prada Group, which saw a 17% rise in revenue during the same period.
In contrast, LVMH saw a 1% decline in revenue year-on-year, amounting to €41.7 billion (£35.1 billion) for the first half of 2024. This transition could signify Dior’s strategy to invigorate its growth amidst the softer performance at its parent company.
Delphine Arnault, CEO and Chairwoman of Christian Dior Couture, has expressed strong confidence in Petruzzo’s abilities. Arnault stated, “I am convinced that Benedetta’s talent and leadership will be major assets in the continued development of Dior’s activities and its international influence.” She further commended Petruzzo’s expertise in the luxury market, affirming that it will bolster Dior’s desirability and success.
Petruzzo herself has conveyed deep appreciation for the new role, highlighting the symbolic stature of Dior and expressing gratitude for the trust placed in her by Arnault. Her commitment to working with Dior’s Executive Committee and Zone Presidents underlines her dedication to furthering Dior’s market presence.
The appointment of Benedetta Petruzzo marks a strategic shift for Dior, aiming to leverage her proven leadership to enhance its market position.
