Primark has announced the extension of its click-and-collect service to incorporate menswear and homeware for the first time, significantly broadening the service’s reach to 54 additional stores across the UK. This strategic move is aimed at improving access to a wider range of products and enhancing customer convenience in several key locations.
Since its inception in November 2022 with a trial in 25 stores across the North West of England, North Wales, and Yorkshire, the click-and-collect service has seen considerable success. The initial offering was expanded in April 2023 to 32 additional locations around London, alongside the inclusion of womenswear. Primark plans to further augment the offering across all 184 stores in England, Wales, and Scotland by the close of 2025, highlighting the success and potential growth of this service.
The expansion coincides with Primark’s 50th anniversary on the British high street, marking a significant milestone since the opening of its first store in Derby in September 1974. In line with this celebration, the retailer also plans an investment exceeding £100 million into its UK stores, which includes opening three new stores, relocating three, and extending another two. This robust investment strategy underpins Primark’s continued commitment to the UK market.
Kari Rodgers, UK retail director at Primark, stated: “It’s been fifty years since we first opened our doors in Derby to bring affordable fashion to the British high street, and expanding click & collect is another way we are giving people more reasons to visit their local high street and Primark.” This statement underscores the retailer’s dedication to enhancing in-store experiences.
The list of the newly added 54 stores underscores the geographical spread and penetration of the click-and-collect service, extending from Banbury to York. As the busy Christmas period approaches, the timing of this expansion aligns perfectly with increased consumer demand, ensuring shoppers have broader access to product ranges typically available only in larger stores.
Primark’s strategic expansion of its click-and-collect service reflects its continual commitment to enhancing customer experience and accessibility.
