Footasylum has strategically strengthened its leadership team by appointing two seasoned professionals. Will Van Rensburg, previously with Under Armour and Clarks, steps in as the new chief commercial officer. His role includes overseeing the commercial operations and shaping the growth strategy of the sportswear retailer. Van Rensburg’s extensive experience as a global commercial director from 2020 to 2023 underscores his capability in driving business growth.
Joining him is Glen Wilkinson, taking up the position of senior buying director. Wilkinson brings with him a wealth of experience from notable positions at Ecco, Reebok, New Balance, and most recently at Italian retailer AW Lab. He is set to commence later this month, collaborating closely with the chief product officer, Leon Mullin. Wilkinson’s expertise is expected to enhance Footasylum’s product offerings significantly.
The company’s strategic appointments come after a successful financial year, marked by a notable increase in pre-tax profits. Footasylum’s profit surged by 112%, reaching £6m for the year ending 27 January, up from £2.8m. This financial boost is attributed to the successful opening and expansion of stores, reflecting effective management and operational strategies.
Moreover, Footasylum’s growth ambitions are further supported by a £35m funding package secured from HSBC. This funding is intended to fuel expansion and sustainability initiatives both across the UK and beyond, aligning with the company’s long-term objectives in the competitive fashion streetwear and sportswear market.
CEO David Pujolar expressed confidence in the appointments, stating: “I am delighted to welcome Will and Glen to the business. Their extensive experience across a range of companies and geographies will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our position in the market.”
These strategic leadership changes are set to propel Footasylum’s growth and market presence.
