Frasers Group has officially announced that Ger Wright, the Managing Director of Sport, will be stepping down from her role at the end of November 2024. Wright, who became part of the company in 2022, is set to remain involved with the organisation as a non-executive director, allowing her to continue contributing her expertise.
During her tenure, Wright played a pivotal role in enhancing the Group’s sports division, specifically through the implementation of the elevation strategy. This included the introduction of new running and outdoor concepts, as well as the successful onboarding of new brands and the expansion into international markets.
Frasers Group Chief Executive, Michael Murray, expressed his appreciation for Wright’s exceptional leadership and contributions. “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group, and we are grateful for her contribution. We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a non-executive director as we further accelerate the group’s ambitions in sport,” Murray stated.
In addition to leadership changes, Frasers Group has actively pursued international expansion. The company recently made strategic acquisitions and formed partnerships in the Benelux region. This year, they have opened nine new Sports World stores in the Netherlands, after acquiring Sprinter stores earlier in the year. Furthermore, plans are underway to open Sports Direct stores in Luxembourg and Belgium in the upcoming months.
Ger Wright’s departure marks a new chapter for Frasers Group as it continues to expand globally.
