- These developments align with Landsec’s strategy to offer larger, digitally integrated retail spaces.
Inditex Group has strategically expanded its presence within the UK retail market through a series of new store agreements with Landsec. These agreements involve the opening of Pull & Bear’s first location in Wales, located at St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff. This new store will occupy 8,500 square feet across two floors, marking a significant step in the brand’s UK market penetration.
In addition to this, Inditex plans to establish two new stores at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent—one for Pull & Bear and another for Bershka. Both stores will cover 10,000 square feet each, offering expansive retail spaces designed to enhance customer experience.
Furthermore, Inditex will be launching a flagship Zara store at Trinity Leeds, occupying 46,000 square feet. This store will replace the unit previously occupied by Topshop, further reflecting Zara’s commitment to expanding its retail presence in key locations. The move was initially announced in May and underscores the brand’s strategy to relocate and upscale its operations within the city.
These new openings are part of Landsec’s broader initiative to develop prime retail destinations featuring fewer but larger stores equipped with advanced digital connectivity. Pablo Sueiras, Head of Brand Account Management at Landsec, noted that partnering with Inditex enhances their ability to connect leading fashion brands with target demographics across their nationwide retail portfolio.
The expansion comes on the heels of Inditex reporting a 7.1% increase in revenue, totalling €8.2 billion, for the period from February to April 2024. The strong performance was driven by robust sales of spring/summer collections, contributing to a 7.3% increase in gross profit and an 8% rise in EBITDA. The group, which includes brands like Zara, Pull & Bear, and Bershka, continues to enjoy favourable consumer reception.
Inditex’s UK expansion reflects a strategic alignment with Landsec’s focus on larger, technology-integrated retail spaces.
