Debenhams is poised to enhance its online presence by launching new international websites.
- New sites in Ireland and Australia will go live before the Christmas season.
- The expansion includes a variety of local and international brands.
- Boohoo Group’s fulfilment service will play a key role in the distribution strategy.
- High street competitor, Next, also plans a strategic online launch.
Debenhams is preparing to extend its global reach by establishing new online platforms in Ireland and Australia. These sites are expected to go live before the Christmas period, offering customers access to both local and international brands.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Boohoo Group, which owns Debenhams, to expand its digital marketplace presence. Having recently achieved a portfolio of 10,000 brands, this move highlights a commitment to online growth.
The launch will also introduce a fulfilment service, allowing UK brand partners to utilise Boohoo Group’s advanced distribution centre in Sheffield. This service promises improved logistics, including options for next-day delivery, thereby alleviating delivery responsibilities from individual brands.
In a parallel development, competitor Next is gearing up for the festive season with its own digital platform named Seasons. The platform will cater to aspirational shoppers by offering a selection of premium and affordable luxury brands such as Ganni, Joseph, and A.P.C.
Debenhams’ strategic expansion into international markets underscores its commitment to enhancing its digital presence and leveraging new fulfilment capabilities.
