John Lewis has made a significant step in sustainable fashion by launching a new circular collection, encompassing 20 pieces that span both fashion and home products. This collection underscores the company’s emphasis on creating longer-lasting and more sustainable items.
The collection meticulously utilises materials such as 100% cashmere, organic cotton, and recycled polyester. Fashion items include cashmere jumpers and pyjamas, while home products feature duvets and pillows. Price points are positioned from £8.50 for baby sleepsuits to £135 for cashmere half-zip jumpers.
In accordance with its commitment to sustainability, each product in the range comes equipped with a QR code on the care label. This code provides consumers with detailed insights into the product’s design process, promoting transparency and informed purchasing decisions.
This new initiative aligns with Wrap’s circular design toolkits, focusing on three principal factors: materiality, durability, and recyclability. Kathleen Mitchell, John Lewis’s commercial director, stated, “We are constantly looking at changes we can make in our bid to combine style and sustainability for our customers… It’s been incredibly insightful seeing the circular framework and strategy put to practice.”
