Skims, the shapewear line established by Kim Kardashian, is reportedly in discussions to occupy the vacant store space previously home to Ted Baker at 245 Regent Street, London. This prime location has been unoccupied since August when Ted Baker shut down its last stores in the United Kingdom. Should the negotiations succeed, it would mark Skims’ inaugural physical store within the UK, reflecting the brand’s ambitious push to extend its presence worldwide.
Having launched in 2019, Skims has swiftly gained popularity, inaugurating its first permanent store in Washington, DC, this June. The brand is planning further expansion in the United States, with new branches slated for Florida, Texas, and Georgia. The proposed addition of a Regent Street location would further amplify Skims’ expanding influence in the global retail arena.
In the UK, Skims products are already accessible through prestigious department stores such as Harrods, Selfridges, and End Clothing, and its international reach includes outlets in Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Brown Thomas in Dublin. Earlier this year, the brand also ventured into menswear with a pop-up event at Soho’s End flagship.
The financial success of Skims is evident as the brand was evaluated at a formidable value of $4 billion (£3.1 billion) following a funding round in 2023. This significant valuation underscores the strong market demand and potential for further growth of the brand in both existing and new markets.
The potential Regent Street store signifies a strategic move for Skims to bolster its international market presence.
