In response to a 12% rise in demand for plant-based products, Lidl is substantially increasing its offerings in this category across the UK. This move underscores a growing consumer preference for plant-based foods and aligns with broader dietary trends.
Lidl’s new range, named Vemondo! Plant Based, will introduce 21 new products to the market. These products include a variety of plant-based alternatives such as burgers, sausages, mince, and nuggets. Initially available in select stores from this month, the range is set for a nationwide rollout by January.
Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer of Lidl GB, emphasised the company’s investment in British farming to support future growth. He stated, “We’re becoming the first UK retailer to set specific plant-based protein targets, with a commitment to breaking down key barriers that currently exist, ensuring that more customers can afford to make healthy and sustainable choices.”
