Lush has launched a new collection inspired by The Body Shop’s renowned products, offering a refreshing reinterpretation of more than a dozen of its top vegan beauty items across hair, body, and skincare categories. The collection aims to deliver a fresh take on The Body Shop’s best-sellers, ensuring the preservation of their essence while introducing a modern twist.
Mark Constantine, the founder of Lush, credited his start in the beauty industry to his role as a supplier for The Body Shop. This professional relationship, alongside collaboration with The Body Shop’s founder Anita Roddick, was foundational in formulating products that achieved considerable success. Despite The Body Shop’s recent financial difficulties, Lush felt a connection, given their intertwined histories and sometimes shared suppliers.
When The Body Shop faced administration, it evoked a myriad of emotions for Lush’s leadership. Lush’s co-founders, who nostalgically recalled creating creams for Anita Roddick, decided to revisit those original formulas that initially brought them success. The new collection serves as a tribute to their collaborative journey, offering a new perspective on classic products.
The latest collection from Lush includes revamped versions of well-loved items such as ginger shampoo, banana conditioner, hemp hand cream, and cocoa body butter. These formulations will be available online and are expected to hit larger retail outlets by November, expanding access to these innovative products.
In recent developments, The Body Shop has been rescued from administration by Aurea, an investment firm led by Mike Jatania. Under the leadership of former Molton Brown CEO Charles Denton, The Body Shop is reorganising its operations, now managing 133 stores, a reduction from the 198 it maintained before entering administration.
Lush’s latest collection pays homage to its roots while embracing innovation amidst The Body Shop’s resurgence under new management.
