Marks & Spencer continues its strategy of freezing school uniform prices as the back-to-school season approaches.
- For the fourth consecutive year, M&S maintains the cost of its school uniform items, reflecting stability in price amidst economic concerns.
- A range of school uniform items remains priced as listed on the retailer’s website, sustaining 2021 price levels.
- M&S introduces school uniform advisers in stores, with a significant investment to enhance customer service during peak season.
- The continuation of price holds comes as families identify cost of living and value as primary concerns.
In a strategic move that highlights its commitment to providing value amidst economic challenges, Marks & Spencer has announced that it will keep the prices of its school uniforms unchanged for the fourth consecutive year as the back-to-school season approaches. This decision aligns with the retailer’s focus on maintaining price stability at a time when many families are facing financial pressures.
According to the company’s website, items such as unisex polo shirts are priced between £7-£15 and boys’ trousers from £11-£17, consistently matching the prices set in 2021. This approach supports families by alleviating the burden of rising costs associated with clothing purchases for school.
In addition to its commitment to frozen prices, Marks & Spencer will offer a 20% early-bird discount on school uniforms starting from 2 July for a limited period. This incentive is aimed at further supporting budgeting efforts for families preparing for the new school term.
M&S is also bringing third-party brand partners Smiggle and Hype to over 100 of its UK stores, expanding the availability of essential school items like stationery and backpacks. These partnerships enhance the convenience and breadth of choice available to consumers in preparation for the academic year.
A recent survey conducted by the retailer, the M&S Family Matters Index, indicates that three-quarters of families remain concerned about the cost of living, with nearly half prioritising value in their purchasing decisions. In response, M&S has introduced dedicated school uniform advisers in more than 120 stores, a decision marking a £1 million investment. The advisers aim to provide personalised assistance, ensuring customers have a seamless shopping experience.
Alexandra Dimitriu, the kidswear director at M&S, stated: “As the UK market leader during the back-to-school season, we’re maintaining the magic of M&S. Trusted value, hand-me-down quality and exceptional service sit at the heart of what we offer, and this year, we’ve done everything we can to bring this to life for families.” Her remarks underscore the company’s customer-focused ethos and dedication to upholding high service standards during significant seasonal shopping periods.
Marks & Spencer’s commitment to price stability and enhanced customer service reaffirms its leadership in the school uniform sector during challenging economic times.
