Morrisons announces a recruitment campaign for the Christmas season.
- Up to 3,000 roles available across stores, manufacturing, and logistics.
- Opportunities include customer assistants, drivers, and warehouse workers.
- Flexible working patterns and no prior experience required for most positions.
- Employee benefits include staff discounts and potential for permanent roles.
Morrisons has launched a comprehensive recruitment campaign to employ up to 3,000 additional staff members to cope with the projected increase in demand during the Christmas period. These roles span across various departments, including retail stores, food manufacturing sites, and logistics operations nationwide. The initiative aims to bolster Morrisons’ workforce to ensure efficient service during the festive season.
The recruitment drive offers a variety of job positions such as customer assistants, home delivery drivers, and manufacturing and warehouse operatives. These positions come with flexible working patterns, allowing workers to choose schedules that suit their personal needs. Importantly, the majority of the roles do not require previous work experience, making them accessible to a broader range of applicants in search of seasonal employment.
New employees will benefit from a 15% discount card for personal use, as well as a 10% discount card that can be allocated to a friend or family member. These incentives are part of Morrisons’ strategy to attract a larger pool of applicants by offering tangible benefits for staff and their families. Previous years have shown that many seasonal staff eventually secure permanent positions within the company.
Clare Grainger, Morrisons’ Group People Director, expressed excitement about the campaign, stating, “As Morrisons gears up for the festive rush, we’re looking for up to 3,000 additional colleagues to join our talented teams. We are looking forward to welcoming these new colleagues who will have a key role in creating and delivering products to make our customers’ celebrations special.”
This announcement aligns with similar recruitment efforts from other major supermarkets like Sainsbury’s and M&S, which are also expanding their workforce to accommodate increased festive demand. Sainsbury’s plans to hire 20,000 seasonal workers, while M&S is bringing in 11,000, marking an increase from last year.
Morrisons’ recruitment initiative reflects the broader trend in the retail sector to expand workforce capabilities during peak seasons.
