Morrisons has taken a decisive step to bolster its leadership in the franchise sector by appointing Katharine Challinor as the new head of independent franchise and new business. Coming from her role at National Lottery operator Allwyn, Challinor is set to transition into her new position next month, succeeding Nick Russell.
Challinor’s robust background includes a role as director of retail at Allwyn and significant positions at the Post Office, where she managed branch retail design, and Sainsbury’s, where she served as café trading manager from 2015 to 2017. Her wealth of experience is anticipated to greatly benefit Morrisons in its current endeavours.
In alignment with this strategic appointment, Morrisons is making notable investments in its franchise infrastructure. The supermarket giant is expanding its ambient distribution centre and has commenced fresh inbound deliveries directly from suppliers. These initiatives are designed to ensure that franchisees and retailers receive a more consistent and quality supply of fresh produce.
Morrisons’ convenience director, Pail Dobson, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re delighted to be welcoming Katharine to our team as we continue to support our new and existing franchise partners. Her extensive experience in this sector makes her a great addition to our team.” Challinor herself commented on her new role, “I’ve always been passionate about helping convenience retailers grow sales and the vital roles they play in local communities, so I’m excited to be joining the Morrisons team and look forward to meeting with retailers soon.”
Morrisons’ strategic appointment of Katharine Challinor signifies its ongoing commitment to strengthening franchise operations.
