Next has introduced an innovative online fashion platform known as Seasons, which specialises in offering premium and luxury brands. This strategic launch aligns with the company’s pursuit of strengthening its presence in the high-end fashion market, building on the successful acquisition of Reiss, in which Next currently holds 74% ownership.
Seasons is designed to create an ecosystem conducive to the growth of third-party businesses, featuring celebrated brands such as Ganni, Marc Jacobs, and Tory Burch. The platform focuses on fostering long-term partnerships with existing brands while expanding its array to include the next tier of luxury labels. This strategic direction is reflective of wider consumer trends, with shoppers increasingly favouring quality over quantity in their purchasing habits.
Lord Wolfson, a prominent figure at Next, commented on the platform’s launch, highlighting that the company observes increased engagement at their price spectrum’s mid and higher levels. He mentioned, “We’re definitely seeing more traction at the mid and higher end of our price architecture, than the base. That’s people buying fewer higher quality things.” By featuring more premium brands, Next aims to better serve its eight million customers’ evolving preferences, focusing on enhancing the shopping experience for its premium customer base.
Currently, Seasons services are available exclusively in the UK market. However, there are ambitious plans to extend its reach internationally towards the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026, marking a significant strategic move in capturing a broader audience globally.
Seasons represents Next’s strategic step towards capitalising on the market for premium fashion, anticipating broader international growth by 2026.
