Sealskinz, a well-regarded name in waterproof accessories, has made a significant entry into brick-and-mortar retail with the opening of its first physical store in London’s quaint Marylebone Village. The launch marks a pivotal moment for the Norfolk-based brand, known for its waterproof and breathable hats, gloves, and socks.
The new shop occupies a space of 1,000 square feet and spans two floors, offering a comprehensive range of the brand’s latest products. Notably, the store showcases Sealskinz’s ‘Vitae’ clothing line, which was introduced last year as an expansion beyond their core accessory offerings. This collection is designed to seamlessly integrate technical attributes into fashionable outdoor clothing, signalling the brand’s commitment to innovation.
Alongside the ‘Vitae’ line, Sealskinz has also launched its inaugural running collection. This addition highlights the brand’s efforts to broaden its market appeal by catering to diverse customer interests, particularly those with an active lifestyle. The store’s permanent presence follows the success of its pop-up shop at nearby 29 Marylebone Lane, which confirmed the location’s potential for a dedicated Sealskinz venue.
Ray Kelvin, the founder of Sealskinz, who acquired a majority shareholding in 2022, emphasizes the importance of this new location as more than just a retail outlet. “After the success of the pop-up last year, it is great to have a permanent presence in the area,” says Kelvin. He expresses a vision for the store to act as a community hub, providing a venue for running clubs and workshops aimed at expanding the brand’s customer base. Kelvin’s statement, “I don’t want this to be just another store, but a hub for the entire Sealskinz community,” reflects his dedication to cultivating a sense of belonging and engagement among patrons.
The opening of Sealskinz’s first store marks a new chapter in the brand’s growth, blending retail with community interaction.
