Sofidel, recognised as a leader in tissue paper manufacturing globally, has joined forces with Amazon’s Multibank initiative. This partnership will see essential products such as toilet paper and kitchen towels donated to two UK Multibanks: Cwtch Mawr in South Wales and Felix’s Multibank in London. These organisations are responsible for redistributing donated goods to vulnerable families affected by poverty.
The Multibanks concept was introduced by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in collaboration with Amazon. These entities act as community donation centres where essential goods such as personal hygiene items, bedding, and clothing are distributed to those in need. The distribution process is managed through a robust network of referral partners, including teachers, social workers, community groups, and local charities.
Sofidel, which operates four production plants in the UK, is known for its Regina brand. According to Francesco Pastore, Sofidel’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, the company is committed to supporting local communities, showcasing solidarity, and aiming to make a tangible difference in the lives of those impacted by poverty.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown expressed the importance of such donations, emphasising how crucial they are for families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. He noted the significant impact on families who can redirect savings to other essential needs. This initiative helps relieve stress and provides tangible support to those in financial hardship.
John Boumphrey, Amazon UK Country Manager, highlighted that the goal of Multibank is to connect surplus essential items from businesses with those who need them most. With Sofidel joining the coalition, thousands more families may benefit from these contributions, broadening the positive impact of the initiative.
Sofidel’s collaboration with Amazon’s Multibank initiative exemplifies corporate responsibility and support for vulnerable communities.
