- An additional 60 delivery vans are being introduced to meet the rising demand.
- Tesco offers more delivery slots and increases Whoosh service capacity.
- Priority booking available to Delivery Saver members from 5 November, others from 13 November.
Tesco has strategically moved its Christmas delivery slots forward by a week for 2024, aiming to better accommodate the increased holiday demand. By bringing forward the slots, Tesco will enable its customers to plan their festive shopping more effectively, reducing last-minute stress and potential delivery bottlenecks.
In response to anticipated demand, the supermarket giant is expanding its delivery fleet by introducing an extra 60 vans. This increase is set to support the significant rise in delivery slots being offered, ensuring swifter and more efficient services during the festive period. Tesco has committed to providing ‘thousands of extra slots across the UK’, enhancing accessibility and convenience for all shoppers.
Customers who are subscribed to Tesco’s “anytime delivery saver plan” or who utilise the click and collect service will be able to reserve their Christmas delivery slots starting at 6am on 5 November. For all other customers, the booking window will open at 6am on 13 November. This phased approach is designed to prioritise loyal customers while eventually catering to the entire consumer base.
Additionally, Tesco is expanding the capacity of its Whoosh service, particularly for Christmas Eve deliveries. This service will offer customers the opportunity to purchase last-minute essentials or forgotten items for their Christmas Day celebrations, ensuring that they have all they need for the festivities.
Tom Denyard, Tesco’s online managing director, expressed his enthusiasm for the increased capacity and convenience being offered, stating, ‘We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season.’ By planning ahead, Tesco aims to facilitate a more seamless and enjoyable holiday shopping experience for its customers.
Tesco’s proactive measures highlight its commitment to meeting customer needs during the festive season, ensuring efficient and accessible shopping solutions.
