The major retailer Tesco is set to introduce Creams café concessions within its UK stores, adding a range of dessert offerings to its in-store cafés. This move follows a successful trial of a standalone Creams café at Tesco Extra Streatham in November.
The first of these new in-store Creams cafés will open in Gateshead, Newcastle on 3 August, with a subsequent opening in Maryhill later that week. More locations are expected to be launched throughout the UK later this year. The concessions will be staffed by Tesco employees.
Customers can indulge in a wide array of Creams products, including 24 flavours of gelato ice cream, along with other desserts such as waffles, cookie dough, crepes, sundaes, and milkshakes. These offerings will complement Tesco’s existing menu that encompasses breakfasts, lunch meals, and a variety of beverages and baked goods.
In addition to the new menu items, the cafés will feature vibrant decor incorporating fluorescent accents, skateboards, and neon signs, creating a unique dining atmosphere. Creams CEO, Everett Fieldgate, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that it is a perfect match and has the potential to offer something unique among UK supermarkets.
Moreover, Tesco is advancing its digital transformation plans for its UK cafés by partnering with technology firm Givex. This partnership aims to enhance customer experience through the implementation of digital kiosks for ordering, along with kitchen automation and inventory management systems.
This strategic partnership is poised to enhance Tesco’s in-store café experience and broaden its customer base.
