James Timpson will temporarily step down from his role as director of the company to fulfil his ministerial duties, a position he officially began on 7 July.
Timpson Group, known for its shoe repair and key cutting services, as well as Snappy Snaps and Max Spielmann photo-printing outlets and hospitality ventures like Hotel Le Tremplin Morzine in the Alps, will continue its operations under the supervision of Paresh Majithia who will act as the group managing director.
Sir John has conveyed his confidence that the company’s leadership team will efficiently manage the day-to-day activities and continue to uphold James’ long-term vision for the business. Sir John expressed enthusiasm for James’ new role and is optimistic about a stronger company upon his return.
With a workforce where approximately 10% are ex-offenders, Timpson Group is notable for its socially responsible hiring practices. This initiative is part of James Timpson’s broader efforts to support reintegration of former prisoners into society.
James established The Timpson Foundation in 2002, which has been integral in recruiting from the prison system. His leadership extended to chairing forums aimed at reducing re-offending rates, and until 2016, he was the chair of the Prison Reform Trust, a position from which he has now stepped down to undertake his governmental responsibilities.
Timpson Group exhibits stable leadership amid James Timpson’s ministerial commitments, with strong support from existing management and a focus on long-term goals.
