- Backed by investors, Ori is poised for major expansions across the UK.
Ori Industries, a London-based technology firm, is marking a significant milestone by becoming the first company in the UK to deploy Nvidia’s latest H200 chips. These powerful chips are expected to meet the growing demands of artificial intelligence businesses by providing enhanced computing capabilities.
Starting January 2025, Ori will make one of the most advanced GPUs, the Nvidia H200, available to both UK and international companies. This launch will be followed by the deployment of Nvidia’s GB200 exascale computers, set to be operational by April 2025. The rollout of these technologies underscores Ori’s commitment to advancing the UK’s position in global AI infrastructure.
The Nvidia H200 GPUs are noted for their impressive technical specifications, delivering 141GB of memory and a bandwidth of 4.8 terabytes per second, which is almost twice the capacity and offers 2.4 times more bandwidth compared to the earlier A100 models. These innovations were made public by Nvidia the previous year and have since been on the radar of major AI players such as Meta, DeepMind, and OpenAI.
Mahdi Yahya, the CEO of Ori Industries, stated that “Ori will be the first to deploy NVIDIA H200 GPUs in a UK data centre, offering them to UK businesses and international companies requiring UK-based compute from January 2025.” He also mentioned preparations for introducing the NVIDIA GB200 system, emphasizing the need for state-of-the-art cooling and power infrastructure to support these systems.
Ori, founded in 2018, specializes in providing GPU cloud infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence applications. The company is supported by financial backers, including the early-stage venture capital firm Episode Ventures and Force Over Mass Capital, which is based in London. Yahya has been vocal about the necessity to enhance the UK’s sovereign cloud infrastructure, advocating for a robust and independent computing environment.
In addition to Ori’s advancements, the H200 chips are also set for deployment alongside AMD Instinct GPUs by Nscale, a London-headquartered cloud service provider. Nscale operates a renewable energy-driven data centre in Norway and has bolstered its capacity with a $155 million Series A funding round, marking one of the most substantial in the UK to date.
Ori Industries is strategically positioning itself to elevate the UK’s AI landscape through pioneering technology deployments.
