Alex Mallet, who has an extensive background with leading tech giants Amazon and Microsoft, has been named Chief Technology Officer by London-based fintech firm Primer. This appointment marks a strategic move for Primer as it seeks to bolster its leadership in the competitive fintech industry.
Primer is a firm specialising in developing payment infrastructure for merchants. It gained significant recognition when it was valued just under half a billion dollars following a successful funding round in 2021, raising £38 million. This financial milestone underscores the company’s strong position and ambition within the fintech sector.
Prior to joining Primer, Mallet spent over a decade at Amazon. His roles involved managing software development and product localisation across a variety of international regions, showcasing his expertise in handling complex engineering challenges on a global scale.
Before his tenure at Amazon, Mallet was a development manager at Microsoft for another decade. This experience provided him with a robust foundation in software development and team management, skills that are highly valued in his new role at Primer.
