In a recent financial achievement, London-based climate tech company Tewke has raised £2.6m in seed funding, significantly surpassing its initial goal of £1m. This success is attributed to the backing of UK Innovative funding from the UK Net Zero Pre-Commercialisation Support Fund among others. The raised capital will further Tewke’s mission to develop Tap, an intelligent light switch that aims to optimise home energy efficiency effortlessly.
Tap is a pioneering product that eliminates the need for a neutral wire or smart lightbulbs, making it a convenient choice for households seeking to improve energy usage without complex installations. Tewke asserts that Tap is perfectly positioned at a “goldilocks zone,” ensuring accessibility for all family members while providing a comprehensive view of the home’s environment.
The seed funding will allow Tewke to broaden its market appeal, enhance its software team, and advance its neuro-symbolic AI systems, which are key to enabling superior energy optimisation. The company’s founder, Piers Daniell, emphasised that energy savings at Tewke do not come at the cost of compromise, focusing instead on elevating the home environment through innovation.
Awarded the Red Dot Award for Design Concept and the Housing Digital Innovation Award, Tewke is set on tackling the £4 billion annual energy wastage in the UK. Its in-house developed technologies, including the Tewke OS, form the backbone of its approach towards creating a smart grid that prioritises energy consumption efficiency.
Looking forward, Tewke plans to participate in the CES 2025 in Las Vegas, where it aims to present Tap and other technologies. This international exposure is expected to reinforce Tewke’s position as a leader in sustainable energy solutions, drawing attention to its innovative contributions to the climate tech industry.
Tewke’s seed funding success marks a significant step towards its goal of advancing energy-efficient smart home technologies.
